I follow the instructions to do this on the DD-WRT website to the T but the "dumb" router then becomes unreachable on the fixed IP address that I assigned to it.

The AP is a wrt54g linksys router running DD-WRT. All wired devices connected to the switch work as intended and sophos is amazing. Sophos hosts DHCP, DNS, and provides the network with UTM functions. All wired and wireless devices are on the same subnet. The AP however, is a pain in my rear end. I am running the 148696 build of DD-WRT.
