Dec 16, 2015 · To put it simply, a Client Bridge links computers while a Wireless Repeater connects routers. These mode changing options can be found in later builds of DD-WRT under the Wireless –> Basic Settings Tab (as seen in the image above). The default mode in DD-WRT is AP, which sets your router up as a standard access point for users.
It is a wireless connection only. No setup changes are required to be made to your host-router / AP except that you usually must use WPA2-AES ONLY for dd-wrt to work. Choose Repeater Bridge under wireless mode. Match your SSID and channel settings exactly to the hub you will be connecting to and click save. Make sure bridged is selected. Go to the Wireless Security tab and match these to your main router exactly and click save.

During the test, we successfully repeated a host AP with a signal strength of only 9% using the DD-WRT router - so low that the laptop cannot detect the host AP.
